Has Nando’s lost the plot.

Almost every one knows Nando’s as the Premier Original Portuguese Flame Grilled Chicken Takeaway, or there Hot or Mild Piri Piri Chicken pieces.

However the last few months The Original Nando’s (Store #1 located in Kenilworth/Rosettenvile) that is located literally around the corner from us has had a terrible slide in service (and in quality). We tend to order from them at regular intervals, however in the last year every Order that we made has had some or other problem.

The latest been, when we walked in there was no one at the counter to take our order. Eventually the Cleaner (She was busy washing the floor and stairs) came to take our order, 3 Chicken wraps (2 lemon & herb, 1 mild) and a regular wedges. After taking our order she took a second order, and then proceeded to start preparing the order, without going to wash hands before handling Food. (Note: She was washing the floor just before taking our order.) Thank fully it was not our order that she started to prepare.

When we eventually got our order, the cashier had taken her place at the counter and placed everything in a brown bag and handed it to us. Well, needless to say, as per usual the order was wrong. We were handed only two wraps, not three, even when we could see the third one had been made and placed with the other two on the pass.
It almost feels like Nando’s is cutting back on costs. Copying other companies with their add campaigns. (I’ve not seen an ‘Original’ Concept advert from Nando’s in many years.) It’s cheaper to Copycat other adverts rather that to pay a team to develop an original advert.

Service and Training has slipped too, and down to a terrible level too, some of the cashiers can’t properly speak English, and mumble most of the time. Many have very little idea as to what each Menu item entails and asks “Hot, Mild or Lemon Herb” when you order the Greek salad. Only the chicken salad, or rather only the Chicken in the Chicken salad has that choice.

In the Last year, about 12 of our orders were 1 or more item Short. Luckily most of them were picked up before leaving the store. Of these, only 3 times was the missing item on the pass, the rest of the time, we had to wait a further 10 to 15 minutes for them to prepare the missing items.

Twice, the order was done completely wrong. I enjoy my hot foods, however the wife and mother do not, Hence the Two ‘Lemon and Herb’ in the order. One all three were done as a Mild Piri Piri, and once all three in the order was done ‘Lemon and Herb’, Even when checking the slip it specifically said 2*Lemon Herb & 1*Mild.

If there service continues in this way, they might just as well close down the entire Franchise as People will simply stop going there. I know that since our last bad service we’ve decided to give Nando’s a complete hit and miss. It was there last chance with us as we already stopped ordering from there for the last 3 months because of the terrible service.

Oh Gremmy, i so agree with you. Nando's really has gotten awful. I know that we will no longer be going anywhere near them. Enough is enough I say.
They really should rather close their doors.
I know we will do fine without their food.
