Finally... some word on Masterchef SA....
Finally some news has been released about the South African version of the hit TV cooking show Masterchef SA.
According to YOU magazine the auditions are set to take place at the end of November and the beginning of December in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. No official dates have been released yet, but official word is the dates and venues for the auditions will be released October 27th in the YOU magazine, along with entry forms for the competition in the same issue.
So if you think you have what it takes to be South Africa’s first Masterchef go out and buy the YOU magazine in the week of the 24th October and enter the competition.
We’ll also be posting all the information as soon it’s made available.

What are the panel of judges looking for in a cold dish?
* This a completed dish that is going to be served to the panel of judges, it may be savoury or sweet. It should best be served cold, as there were no facilities to heat things up before they were tasted, and it should showcase your cooking ability and knowledge of flavours.
* Think in terms of appetizers: chilled soups, salads, terrines, tarts & quiches, Pâtès, Carpaccio and Cervices. Cold Asian styled tapas and starters would also work well.
* Going sweet may also work: Desserts, Jellies, Panna Cotta, Tarts , Mousses, even Ice Cream if you are clever enough to transport it to the venue with dry ice.
* A good indication would be any fabulous tasting food that you would prepare for a top notch gourmet picnic.
* In fact anything that is going to show off your cooking ability, anything that would taste best served cold.
* The dish must be complete- in other words on the plate in your cooler box- there is no space or time to add finishing touches at the venue.
* Your dish must arrive in a cooler box and will be checked for temperature – This will be checked before you meet the panel of chefs.
* Use ice bricks to keep your food cold in your cooler box and whilst in line try to refrain from opening your cooler box too much.
* Above all the food must be your own and give the panel of judges an idea of who you are and what your food is about.
