Is Annual Leave compulsory?
Well I would think so, I mean how long must a person keep on going.. no leave, or no free time or days off?
According to the "Basic Conditions of Employment Act"
Applies to all employers and workers and regulates leave, working hours, employment contracts, deductions, pay slips, and termination.
And after reading some more.. every worker should be allowed annual leave, and it is not allowed to be held back. Nor is outstanding leave allowed to be paid out, with the exception of termination.
Timing of Leave Both the employer and worker should agree to the timing of leave. If they cannot agree, the employer makes the final decision. Leave must be granted not later than 6 months after the end of the annual leave cycle (12 month periods from date of employment).
Based on Legislation in Section 20, of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
I mean how often do you hear "oh my boss never takes leave?" so think about this for awhile, are you all been treated fair?

A happy worker makes a happy outcome, it is sad that bosses think that they can slave drive their employees.

I agree sometimes I think that is why bosses hire people who actually know what they are doing as the boss doesn't have a clue.

Well after the meal we shared with the people from the office. Seem that the company is closing from the 23Dec until the New year, and Gremmy is allowed that time off. His boss told him it would be ok.
However, talking to a few people around the table all have had their ANNUAL leave, but Gremmy is still not allowed that.
Something has to be done, surely they should at least pay him out.
I can't wait for Gremmy to get his paper work on the course he did..

Well the company ( not where he is contracted to ) is closing from the 22nd December until the 3rd January.
Gremmy has that time off as well.

Well it is a New Year, and last year Gremmy was asked NOT to take leave until the contract was over ( was supposed to end at the end of November 2011 ) Gremmy is still there. Seems that this contract will be on going for another year or two. So now I ask you with tears in my eyes, what happens to last years leave. Does this mean no leave for Gremmy at all for the next two years. Something has to happen..

This really upsets me, this week is over and the boss didn't even bother coming to see Gremmy. Now that Gremmy had to do some extra work AGAIN, not his department, his boss has again said 'oh I will see you either Wednesday or Thursday' this is BS... really
Gremmy has 48 hours he worked this week, ok fair enough not all at the company he is contracted out at. But work that other can't or simply refuse to do.
Does he get paid overtime you ask? whahahahhaa what a joke, but his boss does invoice the other companies. So who gets the bonus?
Gremmy's PERSONAL laptop has started failing, and his boss promised a replacement, what a joke.
This hurts me to see what people are doing to Gremmy.
I wonder if they realise how much he actually does.
But trust me, if Gremmy takes one day off ( feeling ill ) there is hell to play. But he must carry on working SLAVE STYLE... and keep smiling.

Gremmy was promised that his boss would come and see him and the company where he is at on Wednesday 18th Jan, nothing happened at 2pm Gremmy found out the meeting has been yet AGAIN been moved to the 19th Jan ( today ).
So he left for work earlier, due to the fact he left some data running last night and wanted to make sure it was working. ( he only left work at 5pm yesterday ) normal time to leave would be 3.30 pm.
I have just gotten off the phone with Gremmy, still no boss.
So we wait and see.

This is bs. Man Gremlin is not a dog, if they can't respect him then he should rather look for something else. Really, that is so unfair.
